The  BookLady

the sun is amber the day set down
no wind came over the ocean
the lights of the city go gently on
it is the time when booklady leaves the town

she took her car and drove it slow
and I heard the boat horn offshore
a smooth breeze began to blow
it is the time when booklady closes the store

the winter air was cold but mellow
she listens to the song bird so billow
by far the sweetest hour, made her heart glow
it is the time when booklady went home

the moon is bright, her mind so far away
over there, she smiles inside, it's another day
she whispers tales of burning sands
it is the time when booklady dreams of distant lands
